This week's readings and videos covered the topic of being honest and having valuable business ethics. In today's world it can be easy to follow everyone else's example of acquiring wealth and earthly possessions in order to compete. Nowadays, many people worry about obtaining more power at the expense of others.

With this week's readings and videos, I reflected on what my motivations are. I am working to obtain a better job, furthering my education to graduate with my degree, and to start my career.

My primary motivation is to finish my studies and obtain my degree in order to provide a better quality of life for my family. I want to continually further my education and improve my skills and talents because I know my Heavenly Father wants me to succeed in order for my family to be blessed both temporally and spiritually.

I took to heart the eternal principles I read about this week. I really had to reflect on how my dealings are with my fellow coworkers and employers. I learned the importance of maintaining integrity and being true to myself and my Heavenly Father. Many successful businessmen also discussed the enjoyment of service and giving back to those in need. I had always heard the principle of service taught at Church, but I had never heard successful entrepreneurs discuss it. I realized that everyone who does well economically lives this principle.

Just like any other business, there is always risk involved with starting a business. The business can take a while to get up and running or even fail. However, it's important to always have a great partner who has skin in the game and is willing to do anything possible for the business to find success. I think that's important because they will bring something different to the table and will provide support and advice when needed.
